I've always been one of us, and I'm so proud to call myself a community member. I already check in with so many stakeholders to keep them up to date with resources they need and questions they have about the sad state of our board dynamics. So I wouldn't need to change much about my approach because I want to always meet people where they are at and prioritize real outreach. I'm a proud mom, grandma, and caregiver for my beautiful sister. I'm an elder who lives in Tribal housing. I have worked in the hospitality industry for decades and have attended more board meetings than I can even count. I'm proud to stand up for our Two Spirit community and equal rights. I practice our traditions as much as I can and I fundamentally believe we can be modern and successful without spiritually surrendering our ways. I believe that times are hard and it can take some of us every penny to take care of our own. The tribe should be a place where we can invest in ourselves, our future, and ask for support when we need. I have nothing to gain from getting more power as I don't have any relatives that can receive any raises or inappropriate advantages. I already dedicate all my free time to helping, and want to be able to have more impact than I have been able to through protesting from the outside.
I lead with my heart and I have a deep bench of business and management skills that can get our tribal employee experience and casino back into shape. I know how to build real relationships with folks and also help community members navigate all the red type. Leaders do not know just one style of leadership and they are skilled at several with the ability to switch styles as needed. I look forward to being a jack of all trades to get work done.
I'm already someone that people come to when they need help navigating tribal resources or are having barriers. I stay on top of everything happening including votes, resolutions, budget changes, amendments to the procedures and let as many as I can know about what's going on. It takes a lot of dedication to not give up when there can be a lot of complexities and dysfunction. But I'm not going anywhere. When the going is already tough, I've stuck to my morals and my deep passion for community. I haven't given up and I never will stop fighting for our people.
I've worked for decades in the hospitality business and know both the big picture and details of creating a world-class experience. One piece that stays the same whether you are in a small business or a five star hotel is supporting and leading your staff. I have many ideas that I know will foster a healthier work environment such as mentorship programs, coaching, timely reviews and consistent raises. It's time we get our HR department back in shape. Additionally we need to develop and define a consistent strategy to bring in more casino revenue. This has been poorly handled by leaders who have been occupying their positions for decades. Let's liven up our biggest revenue maker through better basic management paired with fresh ideas.
As a leader with integrity, I will work hard to maintain these core aspects of respect for our tribal members. I see this as integral to creating a healthier engagement between tribal members and the board:
