With high turnover, employee micromanagement and intimidation, and inconsistent policies around salary we sure have a lot of clean up to do. With decades as a manager in the hospitality industry, I know that good employee support means inspiring, respecting, and reducing burdens to our tribal employees.
Our casino is the Tribe's biggest revenue, essentially it's our purse. Instead of fumbling on expensive external upgrades we should be getting back to basic effective business management. We have had the same leadership for decades and our patrons, guests, and employees can tell. We are missing out on fresh perspective and talent that can liven up and protect this revenue from being lost.
It's scary that many at the top are receiving raises while the Board leadership keeps hiring pricy outside consultants to supplement their responsibilities. Additionally, half of our board meetings are just back to back changes to the budget without much discussion. Tribal governments should be held to basic standards of efficiency and governance skills. And competency needs to go beyond words.
EMPLOYEE EXPERIENCE: In order to be successful I support implementing the following actions to create a healthier and leading employee environment.
ENTERPRISE: The tribe has significant purchasing power and opportunities to generate greater revenue. We need to be opportunistic and competent in our economic strategy. I will advocate for the following changes and investments:
EFFICIENCY :Wasteful spending comes in many forms. Whether it's constant outside consultants, expensive trips to Vegas, or having all board members micro-managing whatever they wish, we are in deep trouble when it comes to efficiency. I would advocate for some of the following changes.
